Growing up I read all types of books, but in my adult life I have found that I am only interested in informative or self-help books; books that help you grow as a person or provide you with some knowledge that will help to improve your lifestyle.
Recently I read a book named that I would recommend to anyone. It is called the “The Hindu-Yogi Science of Breath” It is written by Yogi Ramacharaka. This book has so much information that anyone can benefit from. It explains how breath affects all aspects of life.
Of course we all know that life is dependent on breath and breathing is important when trying to control your heart rate. You also are told to breathe through the pain, but I never really understood how to breathe through pain. Well this book explains everything. First, the book explains that most of us breathe incorrectly and breathe incorrectly results in stooping shoulder and an increase in disease. According to Yogi Ramacharaka “Man's mental power, happiness, self-control, clear-sightedness, morals, and even his spiritual growth may be increased by an understanding of the "Science of Breath."
I’m sure you are wondering how breathing can increase mental power, happiness, understanding, etc; well the more oxygen you take in the better your blood flow, the more impurities are filtered out of your system. Most of us take short breaths oppose to deep long breaths which means that we are not getting enough oxygen to the other parts our body; this may cause disease. Some of us inhale through our mouth when we really should breathe through our nose. Your nose is equipped to filter the air before it get to your lungs.
This is a great book. It explains so much and is very informative.
